Staples
You’re falling asleep in your seat. You were up till 4:00 in the morning trying to get the words to fall into place on that English paper. They didn’t. Now all you want is a nice comfy bed or a medically troubling amount of caffeine.
But when the teacher comes around, he passes you by as if your paper wasn’t even there. When you protest, he turns to you and says nonchalantly: “You’re old enough now. You have to staple your own work.”
WHAT!? Are you kidding me? The difference between failing and not failing is a STAPLE? That tiny aluminum line that stops my paper from falling apart? GOD DAMMIT!
Will they not let me use the classroom stapler? Isn’t that what it’s for? Does it dispense fucking golden staples or something? Is it because the teachers secretly have detachable hands that can’t hold something together? WHY??
First of all, this young-adult/fiction chapter book can be enjoyed by people of all ages. It gives a unique and interesting insight into the world of a child with Muscular Dystrophy. I got my writing abilities from my dad, so if you like what I write, you will love this book.
Second, A PORTION OF EACH BOOK SOLD WILL BE DONATED TO THE MUSCULAR DYSTROPHY ASSOCIATION! I put it in all caps because this is a huge deal that requires all caps. A cure can’t be found without research, and research can’t be conducted without funds.
Lastly, if you can’t buy a book, there is a cheaper E-book option for just $5 (the same donation will be made to the MDA) and each E-book comes with a free puppy, just kidding. Help me make my dad’s night and buy a bunch of books!
At the very least reblog this, and together, we can punch Muscular Dystrophy in the face!

For Halloween, I should dress as a fraction. I would scare most of you.
– Algebra II Teacher to her studentsIt Works! (finally)
The 2.5mm sub-stereo audio cable arrived from Amazon.com today. It successfully connected my Canon EOS Rebel T2i DSLR to my TI-89 Titanium graphing calculator (this is how we make time-lapses round these parts — see my original post and its follow-up). The timelapse came out great, but getting the intervalometer program onto the calculator was a painful process involving some half-dozen computers and many a wasted hour.

Let me start off by saying that Texas Instruments needs to hire someone to fix up their TI Connect software (the software used to connect computers to graphing calculators). I wasn’t going to waste my time typing a program into my calculator’s alphanumeric keypad (clearly they’ve never heard of QWERTY), so I tried connecting via USB and uploading a textfile. Of course, the program doesn’t work on Lion. Oh, I thought, I’ll just use the PC in my house.
No such luck. TI Connect for PC cannot upload programs to the calculator. I wasted 3 hours trying different solutions until I realized that one of my computers has an older version of OS X that might still be compatible with TI Connect.
It worked. Sweet victory. Finally, I upload the program to the calculator.
Connecting the cables and setting up the camera was easy enough. I shot my kitchen during dinner — at an 8 second exposure with 1 second in between each picture, 10 minutes turned into 3 seconds. And the picture is beautiful (not worth posting yet, though).
STAY TUNED: I ACTUALLY HAVE TO DO THE TIMELAPSE FOR SEVERAL HOURS AT MY SCHOOL. MORE TO COME.
